The Ceasing Age-Based (CAB) Trucking Restrictions Act, recently reintroduced by U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., has already gained the support of 19 bipartisan co-sponsors and is identical to an earlier bill which had 21 Republican sponsors but failed to gain traction. The act would lift rules that place restrictions on drivers under the age of 21; allowing younger Americans to meet the increased demand for truck drivers across the country as a result of both the pandemic and new market regulations. Intended to help increase capacity in our increasingly crowded transportation routes and get goods shipped faster, this bill allows those legally allowed to drive a commercial truck on their state highways to apply for interstate operating authority regardless of age and meet a growing need nationwide.
